Zine Workshop

with Andrew D McClees

September 11th, September 25th, and October 9th, from 6-9pm

This workshop is a skill building course to explore producing your own small run, low-cost photo publication that can be made at home or on an office copier (or outsource to a print shop) to distribute to friends, family, and beyond - for fun and (maybe) profit.

The three session zine workshop breaks down the fundamentals for selecting and sequencing images, organizing and developing your layout, learning the proper settings for printing, and approaches to distribution.

There are three important items you’ll need to get started.

  • 30-50 printed photos (4”x6” recommended) you are considering for your photozine

  • Adobe InDesign, Affinity Publisher, or an alternative way of making a PDF of your images

  • A willingness to learn and exchange feedback!

Options for proof prints and software:

  • Print your images at home, or at varying degrees of cost at: Hunt’s Photo, Shutterfly, Adorama, or a local Walgreens or CVS

  • Rent by the hour at the Bakery to use our computers and prepare your work ($20/hour, workshop participants can rent at half price during course once registered)

Workshop registrants may rent computer and printers at a 50% price reduction outside of class time for the duration of the course. Ink fee is 6 cents per square inch.

Affinity currently has a 6 month free trial offer

Adobe InDesign is $22.99/month
